Idaho Paycheck FAQ
Common questions about paychecks and taxes in Idaho
What is the Idaho state income tax rate?
5.3% on taxable income above a 0% band. For 2025 the 0% band covered the first $4,811 of taxable income for single and married-filing-separately filers and the first $9,622 for joint filers, heads of household and qualifying widow(er)s. The 5.3% rate is set in Idaho law with no end date, so it applies in 2026; Idaho adjusts the 0% band for inflation each year and hasn't published the 2026 amount.
What is Idaho's standard deduction?
Idaho uses the federal standard deduction. For 2025 that's $15,750 for single and married-filing-separately filers, $31,500 for married filing jointly or a qualifying widow(er) and $23,625 for head of household. Idaho follows the federal tax code as of January 1, 2026, so its 2026 deduction would be the federal 2026 amount ($16,100 single), but until Idaho publishes its 2026 0% band the calculator keeps the whole 2025 set together. Idaho has no personal exemption and no per-filer credit.
How much Idaho tax is withheld from a bonus?
5.3% if your employer pays it separately. Idaho's State Tax Commission lets employers either multiply a separately paid supplemental payment by 5.3% or combine it with regular wages.
What does this calculator leave out for Idaho?
Idaho starts from federal adjusted gross income, so pre-tax deductions and Idaho's additions and subtractions change your taxable income; the calculator starts from gross wages. It also leaves out the $10 Permanent Building Fund tax on each return that must be filed and the refundable Food Tax Credit (formerly the grocery credit).
